Happy Thanksgiving

I meant to publish this on Thanksgiving Day, but I figured with all the other well wishes and dinner and family, now would be a better time. I just want to pass along to all of you my sincere thanks for all of the support over the last year. All of the amazing comments and dedication, even when I got swamped or the blog didn’t run so well. Trust me when I say it will all pay off in the end. I wish each and every one of you the absolute best and may the coming holidays and new year bring you happiness and good health. I took this picture the other day in San Diego as the sun set and the storm clouds cleared.

  1. Oh dang you Adam, that was a tear jerker. Didnt expect that!
    How sweet!
Your welcome, your still the best reporter Fox has! ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you for putting up with us and catering to us!

  2. Wow, a beautiful sunset.

It was great meeting you at Easter. Hopefully we can meet again someday on your turf.

  3. Adam – great note of “thanksgiving”. You’re awesome!! (so is the sunset)

  4. Adam… thank you. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, as well. You have certainly drawn a great group of people to your blog. And, I appreciate the opportunity to converse with them. I love the photo…..sunsets are a favorite.

  5. Adam,
Thank you for the wishes and for providing this blog for us. I have “met” some really nice people here.
Sunsets are so beautiful…..we always used to watch them each night when visiting Maui. Sometimes we even get beautiful ones in Cincy.

  6. Patty,
Thanks for the hugs from the other thread. It has been a rough week. Been on the phone a lot with a tearful daughter who thought she could keep her dog alive longer than 16 years. I do hope the 8 year old Yorkie stays healthy because that would be devistating…..and that one lived in our home until Michelle and Michael married.

  7. Adam–

what a nice new thread or post– Hope your holidays are fun and safe!

Next time we meet, let’s play pool– I haven’t played in years but I sure could play at one time– one on one- eight ball- If I win, Kenny and I get to come with you when you come to AZ to do a news story– And if you win, I will stop teasing you~ ๐Ÿ˜€

    xxx

  8. @Adam Housley

“I wish each and every one of you the absolute best and may the coming holidays and new year bring you happiness and good health.”

and to you, good sir; all the same to you, yours, and all your good company here.

  9. Patty,
A MIRACLE happened. The “dying” dog arrived in Florida, woke up this morning perky and ready to eat. Michelle’s in-laws took him to the vet and was told he was dehydrated but not dying. This 16 year old dog suffers from kidney disease, has to have fluid therapy twice/week, had an intestinal problem for over a week, and is now doing well.
Maybe the dog just needed to find the fountain of youth in Florida.

That’s my feel good story for today.

  10. Sylvia, that is great about the dog. Can you tell us where in FL this is so we can go too!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Barb,
Vero Beach……I think we should all pack our bags and go there.
Our daughter and son-in-law have spent thousands of dollars keeping this dog alive this past year and all it needed was a vacation in Vero.
The dog still has to have fluid therapy twice/week and eat special kidney formula dog food but it has now regained quality of life.

  12. All,

    my dad sent me this

its really funny: how we got into the crisis

    http://www.docstoc.com/docs/1807217/How-Subprime-Really-Worked

  13. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too.

I had two… one in Beaver, Utah.. and one here in L.V. w/ the family.

We’ll be doing the same for Christmas!

  14. I can pick up my brother and sister in law in Clearwater and we will meet you there! LOL

  15. Happy late Thanksgiving Adam and everyone!
    Adam ~ Beautiful picture!

  16. *taking a sighing deep breath*
    aaahhhhh the quiet ๐Ÿ˜‰

wow, we are definitly not used to the noise of 12 more in the house. Love to see them here, but its sooo peaceful when they are gone! *L*

Sylvia, thats IS amazing with the dog! Although I’m sure the days are still numbered, but maybe atleast gives you all more time to adjust to the thought of it.

I hope everyone has had a peaceful/restful/enjoyable few days. Sure doesnt seem like tomorrow we should have to “go back at it”, but I’ll take whats left of today and be glad I had the last 5 days. *shaking head* 5 days? really? where did it go? yikes!

  17. Patty,
Did you say 12 more people staying in your house???? How many nights did they stay….and how in the world did you have enough beds?

    I can’t imagine the chaos!!!!!

I think you deserve to rest today.

How was the cheesecake? Haven’t had any in ages.

  18. Sylvia, yep, the 12 includes the little ones.
2 adults and 1 kid spent the night last night, the rest had to go back home yesterday. But…when they all stay, we make room. one set stays with the inlaws in town and the rest pile in! Its a BIG house, lots of floor space for the kids and a set of bunk beds help.

I havent had any cheesecake, I dug into the apple pie (i eat mine with american cheese on top)! YUM!

  19. Patty – WHAT? what are you eating american cheese on??? pie? yuck!!!

Glad everyone had a restful Thanksgiving!
Sylvia – glad to hear about the dog. ๐Ÿ™‚ Many people are told to move to FL because apparently the high humidity is good for some people and of course our MILD winters so maybe it works for dogs too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  20. Max – how did your pie turn out?

  21. Patty,
I have never had cheese on apple pie… just ice cream, not cheese. Can’t imagine eating it with cheese.

  22. Sunshine: My pie was good. Still not dry enough, so i’ll use less milk on the next one i make in a couple of days. I used no suger, so my dad (diabetic) can eat it, and he likes it. So since all my family like it i won’t worry about getting far eatting 3 sweet potato pies all by myself.

  23. Max, can you use Splenda instead of sugar…

I did that the other day when I was making Banana Bread… I ran out of sugar and used Splenda instead…and it tasted great.

  24. sylvia, its a habit my dad started when i was very little. It sure gets funny looks in a restaurant when i ask for it! *L*

  25. @Patty and Sylvia

I do the same (in principle): Apple Pie with a thick slice of cheddar on top.

Mum says it was all the fashion in the German-Texan community… and being that those lot mostly came to Texas via Kansas…

What do you think, Patty? Might be some truth to that being the source of the tradition?

  26. LDG,
I can actually see cheddar cheese pairing up well with apple pie, but not American cheese. To me American cheese can only be used on top of a grilled hamburger or simply a grilled cheese sandwich. I tend to like cheese that has more flavor than American.

  27. ‘morning everyone.

LDG..I’ve never known anyone else to do the cheese thing!!! You may be right about the tradition, I dont remember dad ever saying where he got it from. I’ve never tried cheddar.

  28. @Sylvia

    ((nodnod))

I’m big on Natural Cheese (real cheese, traditional cheesemaking) and got quite in the habit of serving it with fruit. I would guess you probably would like that as well.

“American Cheese” used to be real cheese, by the way (was a blend of Colby and Cheddar)… not anymore. Now it is “Processed Cheese”, which bears little resemblence to natural cheese. For real laughs, try explaining to someone who likes “Velveeta”-type Cheese Product that it is made by diluting processed cheese with more uncured milk solids… i.e. it is basically cheese-flavored whey.

  29. @Patty

“I’ve never known anyone else to do…”

Heh, well now you know one.

    @All

this whole thread is getting pretty cheesey, actually…
    ((grin))

g’morning! Did I see posts by Terri up above? Welcome back!

  30. LDG
I love fruit and “real” cheese. I always serve it at parties. Murray’s Cheese of New York has opened a branch inside our newest Kroger grocery store which is very close to our house.

  31. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday. It is soooooo foggy here this morning, can’t even see across the street – YUK!!!

Patty – Add me to your list – Cannot eat apple pie without cheese, but we use either white or yellow cheddar. So yummy

Sylvia – Love sliced granny smith apples with pepper jack cheese. Between the tart of the apple slice and the heat of the pepper cheese, it makes an awesome combination.

Max- Glad to see you are home safe and sound

LDG – “this whole thread is getting pretty cheesey” – Now that’s funny. Hope your evening is going well – close to midnight right??

  32. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Adam,

Thank you so much for your warm wishes to all of us. We have met and “talked” with so many wonderful people from all around the globe.

I posted 3 comments on your “smashed” thread at foxnews, but, again, nothing came up, so I don’t know where my comments were sent. AND, NO, I do not use links or smiley faces – don’t even have a clue as to how to do that. Just wanted to let you know that I do try to post over there.

Our wishes to you and yours for the upcoming Holiday Season and the New Year. Wish you nothing but more sucess – OH – MAYBE A WEDDING WOULD BE IN ORDER – hint hint hint

  33. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    SMILE FOR THE DAY
” A gynecologist had become fed up with the high cost of malpractice insurance and was on the verge of being burned out. Hoping to find another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to make a major career change and become a Harley mechanic.

He found out from the local community college what was involved, signed up for the classes, and learned all he could.

When the time for the practical exam approached, the former gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks and completed the exam with tremendous skill.

  34. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

SMILE FOR TODAY – PART TWO!!!

When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he scored 150%. He called the instructor saying, “I don’t want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result – but – I wondered if there was an error.”

The instructor said, “During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total exam. You also put the engine back together perfectly which is also worth 50% of the total score.”

The instructor went on to say, “I gave you that extra 50% because you did it all through the muffler.”

  35. ha ha ha ha!!! *L*

  36. KC,
    Very funny.

  37. Terri: none of us really like sweet tasting things all that much, it was sweet enough for me as it was. I just want it to be more dry, like cake.

    KC: thanks!

  38. oh yuck! I just can’t get over the idea of putting cheese on anything sweet!!!!!!! especially a slice of pie. As for American cheese, I only eat it on grilled cheese sandwiches otherwise, I have no use for it. lol
the tops of pies (at my house) are reserved for a thick dollop of whipped cream. mmm ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. everyone getting another blast of cold yet? I hear we should be getting something mid week.
    Stay warm friends!

  40. @KC

sorry, was very distracted elsewhere. Yes, it was about midnight back then… ’tis 0400 now, which means I’d best be off to rest.

Thank you also for the silly smile for the day!

    @FL Sunshine

Ah, that would be it then. The pies I prefer would likely run to the “tart” taste by your standards. What sort of pie would you recommend on the sweet side?

((departs for now, but will check back for pie later))

  41. Patty… I have heard of having a slice of cheddar cheese with apple pie growing up, although we did not have it that way.

KC… That was very funny LOL

LDG… Cherry pie might be good, it is tart but also sweet, depending on the types of cherries you can get.

  42. LDG – what would I recommend for a sweet pie? what wouldn’t I would be a better question. lol Key lime, apple, pecan, pumpkin, chocolate, coconut cream, custard, blueberry, cherry, sweet potato, gee, they are all sweet.

  43. Oh My Goodness…..Key Lime pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie…..I am in bakery heaven just thinking of those. Good thing I don’t keep that stuff in the house!!!

  44. Hey Adam, you working or still on vacation.
We were talking at work today, did you know that I can’t even order your wine!!??
One of the guys here at work was telling that his sis has to have hers wine shipped to a place in Nebraska, we are just over the state line. You can’t ship wine to KS. That stinks!

  45. @FL Sunshine

oh, that all sounds good… Sign me up for the Key Lime pie. That is something that is *impossible* to get here.

    Thanks!

  46. Another “sweet” pie is a sweet potato pie. I had never heard of it till I moved to the South. It is pretty good actually. And yes LDG the Key Lime is really good. I just might have to make one for Christmas.

  47. Now I’m craving Key Lime pie. It’s hard to get good Key Lime pie in Cincinnati. I really need to make my own…..but then I’ll eat it….and I really don’t need all that butterfat and sugar. So…..I’ll just let you all enjoy it.

  48. ๐Ÿ™‚ the cheesecakes was wonderful btw!

    ‘morning all.

Was reading at Greta’s, ya i know, Im brave. The post she put up yesterday with the “add the caption” to the pic of Ob and Hill..the comments are hillarious!

  49. Sure is quiet on this blog. Guess everyone is worn out from too much eating during the holiday.
Almost sleep time for us since we get up at 5:30 AM.

  50. Sylvia: yeah, it’s a quite time. It could be that everyone is busy at work catching up.

  51. ‘morning everyone.
I was swamped at work yesterday, and probably will be for a while. End of year is closing in. Closing budgets, reports to the state, blah blah. WE have a huge end of year report to the state dept of ag. Takes me forever to get it all together. Seems the older i get, the tougher it gets! Once I get started it falls together, its that “starter” thats a lil wore out.
Today I have a back dr appt. Will get shots to see if he can ease some of the pain. Sure hope this works!
Crappy weather here. North winds and cold! Snow just into nebraska, but none here yet. Just bitter cold.

  52. Now its snowing..looks like a white out! Huge flakes!
Welcome to KS weather, if you dont like it, wait a half hour, it will change! *L*

  53. Good morning all…..

    Not much new here today.

Patty….good luck at the doctors today. And, yes, getting started is always the hardest part. Hope all falls into place on those year end reports.

I need to work on Christmas cards and out of town gifts. Time to wrap, pack and ship.

  54. Hello All,

fells like I have not written on here in a week or so. Studying for the last few exams in Israeli school for the semester and working on completing my online high school thus receiving my first of two diplomas . In addition, counting down the days to when I hear back from University…. I’m really hoping I get in as I really dont fell like ” wasting,” my time with applications lol!

Max.. whats up with your Uni stuff… Regular Decision deadlines are very soon could be as early as Jan 1 to as late as Jan 20 some Unis have rolling admissions

  55. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Good morning all,

Patty – hope all goes well at the doctors appointment and you can get some relief for your back.
Year end reports, etc. etc. etc. – YUK- I was a CFO for many years, five branches, 76 employees and the year end reports, w2’s, IRS crap, etc. etc. was always a nightmare. But you are right, once you get started, it just seems to all fall in place. Of course, I always shut down the phones, so I did not have that headache or disruption. I surely do not miss those days.

Karen 2 – thanks – you just reminded me to do my Christmas Cards. I usually do them the day after Thanksgiving and I completely forgot.

Avi – sounds like you are working to hard on your school stuff, but it will all be worth it. Nothing like a good education. Aren’t you suspose to hear from the University by the end of this month??? My fingers are crossed for you my friend.

Max – cooked anything good lately??? Still trying to get over your blood soup with bone marrow dumplings. That hurts my tummy just typing it.

  56. ((peers about, looking for pie))

    g’morning All

  57. Karen 2,

Yah they say ” before Dec 31,” though i noticed last year they sent out the letters around the 15th of the month. So either way I should start filling out other apps just in case. I’m hoping they get back to me within the next 2 weeks. As i dont want to drive my Israeli school GC crazy with forms that I may not need. Though most of the annoying paper work I can do with Common App which is one app for all Unis. Though not all Unis are part of the Common App.

If things dont go my way I’ll be applying to : Maryland, Brandies, UF ( safety). And a few others.

Right now I have all my eggs in American University !!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. Patty,
Good luck with the appointment. Hope the shots work. Pain is not fun.
As for the snow…please do not send it my way. It’s 40 here today (heat wave) but suppose to get really cold again tomorrow. Time to begin the countdown to spring.

  59. Avi: their decision deadline is months off. I think it’s May. It’s definately sometime into April. We’ve found out about loans and now just need to set up a bank account to hold the money, then i can apply and get a visa.

KC: Sweet potato pie. Not had much chance for adventurous cooking being away so much recently. This week i will be doing liver and bacon burgers. Soon i want to get some pigs ears. They are popular snack food in china, spain and some other contries. I also want to try stuffed beef heart. But i’ve not seen whole hearts for sale.
Yes that does imply i’ve seen pig ears for sale.

  60. Max..
Growing up as the daughter of a Bacteriologist, food safety was a given. Then I moved to England in the 70’s and saw all the dead chickens and other meat hanging in the window of the grocer on the High Street and thought I had gone back in time 50 years. They also had things that I was not used to eating. I do have to admit that I did buy my meat on the AF base. I loved to shop in the little grocer by our house though. It was a great 3 years in my life, I loved living there. I was back there in 2001 and it has not changed that much. Hope to get back again in the next couple of years.

  61. aawww Adam that was nice! And gorgerous photo to go with it!

  62. Barb,

When we visited China Town in NYC I couldn’t stand to see or smell the chicken and meat “hanging around”. Wouldn’t even want to have dinner anywhere in the area.

  63. Barb: The butchers here aren’t interesting, their meat is overpriced and low quality. I have to go to China town to get the good stuff. And they seem clean, so Sylvia needn’t worry.

  64. Good Morning All,

    Max,
I don’t eat any food that I see whole or is hanging around unrefridgerated. If I lived on a farm I would probably only eat veggies because I couldn’t eat any animal that I “knew”.

I also can’t eat any fish that appears whole on the plate….has to be boneless.

  65. Sylvia: all the meats in the china town here have all the meat in refridgerated cabinets, so it’s not so bad.

  66. Eeewww. Not very appetizing in here! *L*

    ‘morning all.
    Burrr, its cold!

Thanks for all the well wishes. This injection is sort of a test run. Trying to narrow down where the pain is coming from. He’s pretty sure its the muscle rubbing on the bolt heads. It was really sore and felt bruised after the shot, but today, so far so good! Time will tell.

  67. Sylvia, i thought of you yesterday when i was on line shopping…ran across something about a dog, but for the life of me, cant remember what it was or where it was! *L* I just remember thinking of you.
    It’s hell to get old!
I’ll let ya know if I can track it down!

  68. Patty,
Wait until you’re my age and you’ll think the age you are now is young!!!!

Honestly, it doesn’t get any better than what it is today. My 92 year old mother who is still living independently thinks I’m young!!!!

  69. Patty: well today i made some mini burgers.
I hope your medical fixes all go well.

  70. HELLO TO ALL!!!!

I want to wish you all a great holiday— as I don’t have much time in my days for the computer–

Patty– I totally can relate to the back– I had a pinched nerve or sciatica for about 10 days– and it was painful– very….. I think it is sciatica– as I injured my back years ago– sciatica– and in the last two months, I have had this pop up twice– so I feel for you– as I know what the back pain is all about– except I don’t do doctors– Motrin and muscle relaxers I got from my neighbor– I am sooooo good at Ken going to the doctor but me- hell no! I am afraid they will find something else! I am a coward!

Adam has the word out he is on R & R for about a week but after he rests he will be back here–

Have a great holiday– stay safe and warm!!!!

(Max– if you were here at my house, you would be eating Prime Rib on Xmas and speaking German with my German neighbor as she and her family will be here on the 25th–)

    xxxxxxxxx

  71. yuuummmmm.
prime rib sounds heavenly! Havent had that in ages.
Susan..it is so quiet when you arent here!!! Miss ya! ((hugs))

  72. Max,

wow luckly….. that uni must have rolling admissions or a special type of enrollment because most deadlines are in mid/late jan.

good luck…. I might be taking a course at LSE this summer depending on how my time is

  73. Susan: yum, have you ever tried roasted pig’s shin? It is a popular dish in Germany.
It’s like ribs, but more meat.

Avi: cool, what months would you likely be here?

  75. Good Morning from cold (18 degrees) Ohio.

I hate cold weather. I hate bundling up to go outside. At least it’s not icy or snowy. I don’t do ice and I hate the mess of snow. I’m a tee shirt, shorts, and sandals type of person so 18 degrees is way too chilly for me.

  76. Good Morning all…

Sylvia – Agree. I am not ready for winter this year. We are very cold this morning too with a little snow on the ground. I would like to have snow from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Then it can warm up again!

  77. ‘morning all.
    Cold here too.
Agreed on the weather. Make it go away! *L*

  78. K2 and Patty,

Are we all hoping for global warming?

  79. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

Good morning all and Happy Friday –
Can’t believe it is Friday again, weeks are flying way to fast for me. We have fog, fog, fog here, but gets a bit sunny in the afternoons.

Loving my sweats and fuzzy slippers!!!! Haven’t turned the heat on yet, but the time is nearing I’m afraid. At least it is not as expensive as running the A/C.

I feel for you guys and your cold cold weather – snow – ice – 18 degrees!!! OMG – I cannot even imagine that!!!

  80. Sylvia ~ I am t-shirt, shorts, sandals person too. I don’t deal well with cold weather. I do like it for about a week, but then I am ready for spring and summer to come along!
So far this November was the coldest in Charlotte in 32 years.
    Morning everyone!

  81. KC…you can come visit…I could actually even let the heat go upstairs to the spare bedrooms for you! *LOL*
Oh ya, bring your fuzzies, your gonna need them ๐Ÿ™‚

The wive’s tale here for fog, is 90 days after is rain! Maybe there is hope for ya KC!

  82. Adam, can you turn off the moderation thing? even a single link gets moderated.
    ohhhh
forget it, i should have just not made it a viable link. I’m ok…carry on! ha ha

  83. try again, this will no doubt be a duplicate in time.

you’ll have to copy and paste

It’s a good day after all

OJ got 15 years in Federal Prison

Eligible for parole after 6, but more than likely will not be approved

There is some justice in this world after all

  85. whats vegas gonna do without the main side show? geeeze, they wil go broke without the circus!!!
    Adam…….
a year ago YOU were doing OJ. Well not ………ya.. well anyway, it was your story back then! *L*

  86. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Patty,
Thanks for the invite – but – I could never survive in your weather conditions. I would turn into a solid chunk of ice and freeze to death right there in your home!!!!!

90 days after fog – rain – WOW – that means we will finally get some rain around here in March???? I would rather have rain that fog any day of the week.

  87. Are there golf courses in prison? What will OJ do if there isn’t a golf course? What will OJ do without his blonde girlfriends? Oh my….poor OJ.

There is justice in this world.

  88. Im sure there are a few blondes in prison!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  89. Sylvia,I think global warming went away – just like OJ! Glad to see he is getting prison time. bye bye OJ. Maybe his girlfriend will get straightened out now.

KC, I would invite you over, but we keep our house at 63 degrees in the winter….. You would have a coat on all the time! We do have throw blankets everywhere!

Patty, understand about warming those rooms you do not use often! Now, if everyone would just turn off the lights after they leave the room (omg… i sound like my Mom)

  90. Hmm, will my posting work now? I have 2 posts waiting on Adam to get home and approve them.

  91. Here’s what i posted, but without the links:

Susan: yum, have you ever tried roasted pigโ€™s shin? It is a popular dish in Germany.
Itโ€™s like ribs, but more meat.

Avi: cool, what months would you likely be here?

  92. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Karen2
I can handle 63 degrees – Like I said prior, we have not even turned on our heater yet. We are having between 62-65 degree weather here everyday which is not bad. When we do decide to turn on the heater, we keep it at 60 degrees.

Actually, I have my jacket on right now as I type this and sometimes I run my hands under hot water to keep them from breaking – but – I am to stubborn to turn that damn heater on yet.

  93. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    LDG
Haven’t “seen” you in a couple of days. You usually peek in

Hope all is well with you and yours

  94. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Max

Man, I am full blooded german and my mom always cooked german meals while I was growing up – but I have never heard of – let alone ate – some of the dishes you mention.

Of course, remembering my mother, maybe I did, and was told it was something else – hmmmm

  95. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

I watched the whole process on OJ”s sentence this morning on the fox live stream and his statement to the judge was something else.

He was trying sooooo hard to get a tear to fall – which he could not – it was pathetic.

Hope you all get a chance to see it sometime throughout the day or on the news this evening

  96. KC,
Saw it and wasn’t impressed with OJ’s acting skills. When he realized it didn’t fly with the judge he suddenly got an angry look on his face. I think I saw the face of evil when he gave that angry expression….a look of the true OJ.

  97. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Sylvia,
I agree, his facial expressions changed dramatically when he figured out the Judge wasn’t buying his speech. I think he figured he could again talk his way out of the mess he got himself in. I am very glad it did not work.

Finally a jury and a judge did not go for his BS

  98. Max,

    Like July or June ish….

though gotta see my exam sec for the end of summer. As my last Israeli National Exam is in June. Furthermore, I will need to plan on my move back to American for college. And, my dad kinda might want me to work at his office in the summer in miami though he is the one that pitched the LSE idea so we shall see. If i go to LSE for the summer that would mean TLV – England-TLV-Miami-d.c. If not more. lol

So pretty much its a logistical issue.

First i need to get into college in america this month !!!

  99. KC,

I agree….the teflon finally wore off and now OJ has to pay for his actions.

I don’t wish bad things on people, but OJ is an exception….he is EVIL.

  100. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

WOW – Now they are saying that OJ was sentenced to up to 33 years and eliglble for parole after 9
Must be all of the concurring sentence stuff.
    That is even better news!!!!

  101. KC: the German names for it is Eisbein; or if it is baked Schweinshaxe.
It’s pretty tasty, a lot like ham. It looks pretty imposing, but a lotof it is bone, so it’s not all that much meat. Enough for me for one meal, but that ahould be enough for 2 normal people.
If you look it up on wikipedia you will get a few photos. There are a lot of tasty german products on germandeli dot com.
The place i get a lot of food is germandeli dot co dot uk. I like traveling to their stores. I will have to go next week.

Avi: awesome, i will still be here then.

  102. KC,

If OJ gets out in 9 years (which may not happen) do you think he’ll be a “better” person….less arragant and a little smarter?

  103. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Sylvia

OJ will never be a “better” person. Hopefully, he will leave prison feet first. I have no sympathy for that beast what-so-ever. Hopefully someone in there with him will literally knock that chip off both of his shoulders.

  104. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Max

Im gonna look up some of that food. Like I said, my mom cooked a lot of german dishes, but haven’t heard of the one you mentioned.

How in the world are you gonna find that kind of food in Wyoming??? You are gonna have to change your diet – LOL

  105. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing week-end – Talk to you all Monday – stay safe and warm!!!

  106. KC,

Max will definitely have to adjust to American food. What we call German food is not even close to what Max has been eating…..thank goodness!!!!
I’ve been to German restaurants and Max’s food is not on the menu.

  107. By KC,

    Have a nice weekend.

  108. OJ FINALLY hits the slammer!

    PRAISE THE LORD!

    xxx

  109. KC–

    Nine years~

If he serves 5, good enough for me–

The arrogant piece of crap who used his football status to feed his worthless ego, time in prison will suffice for me!

You do penance here on earth~

Did that piece of worthless crap ever contribute any money to charity? Or was he dodging Mr. Goldman?

    Mr. Goldman:

I am so glad you got to see some form of justice!

    Hat off to Judge Glass!

    grinning big time here~

  110. Good Morning All,

Susan……I agree with everything you said. I am thrilled OJ is finally where he belongs. Long overdo but well worth waiting for. I didn’t think it would ever happen. The Goldman family can have some peace of mind at least until OJ comes up for parole in 9 years…….if OJ even survives incarceration.

  111. @KC

I’m around and about. I just got started on my weekend 17 hours before you did.
    ((grin))

    @All

Not going to comment on Simpson in particular, but…

It’s not the best legal precedent to wish a harsher-than-first-time penalty on an individual on the basis that for a previous accusation they were tried, *but not convicted*… no matter how much it seems obvious that the failure to convict was a miscarriage of justice.

Yeah, I know, it seems unfair. Even wrong. But that whole logic of it being “better to let 10 guilty go free than to condemn 1 innocent” is a pretty important check on the power of prosecution.

Just something to keep in mind.

  112. LDG,

I believe this judge gave OJ the minimal sentence according to the legal guidelines so he has no reason to appeal that decision. Even his attorney said it was the best possible sentence his client could get.

He should have taken the plea bargain but smug OJ figured no jury would ever convict him of anything.

  113. @Sylvia

Yes, my understanding is that the sentence imposed was minimal.

  114. @All

    Be well and safe!
    ((departs for now))

  115. KC & Sylvia: I saw some of that sort of stuff on sale in Wyoming. Mostly in restaurants. And the only person i know to have eatten pig ear lives in Iowa, so it won’t be too hard.

I cook, so all i need to do is make friend’s with a butcher and i can get all i want.

  116. Max,

Since I don’t eat pork I am not knowledgeable of any of those meats you mentioned. I have a good friend who grew up on a pig farm in Missouri and now lives in Cincinnati. He probably knows all about that stuff.

  117. Max – was in line at Wal-mart today (hate going there) to return something and the guy in line ahead of me was tall and reminded me a lot of you. He turned around and started talking to me and man if it didn’t make me think of you. Kind of neat. ๐Ÿ™‚

  118. Sylvia: I didn’t expect you to know much about Pork. I like beef a lot too, i try and eat all different kinds of meat.

Sunshine: Awesome. There’s a woman here who reminds me of you, except now she dyed her hair dark.

  119. Ahh… I heard on this well respected college forum that American University has finished the ED decisions and are sending them out on Sat and will arrive in mailboxes on the 15( monday)… AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  120. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Good morning everyone

Hope you all had a great weekend

  121. @All

    g’morning!

    @KC

welcome back! Thanks, the weekend was fine (…the Monday wasn’t so much fun, though).

  122. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    LDG
Glad you had a good weekend

As for “your” Monday – were you in a grrrr bear mood!!!

What is your weather like over there???

  123. @KC

Monday simply lived up to its reputation. I seem to have endured without excessive growliness showing, however.

Weather actually rather nice. Cold nights, cool days, not too many clouds in the sky today, but the forecast calls for rain later today (here in the lowlands). Should just be one day of it and be back to cool and clear the rest of the week.

  124. Hi All,
We are getting a short break from the frigid temps……going to be close to 50 tomorrow but heavy rain expected. This morning we had sleet than rain. There is still a little snow on the ground.

Hope your Monday (or Tuesday in Japan) is good.

    Growl……

  125. ((wave; smile))

    Have a good one, folks.

Hope it gets better for you, Sylvia.
    ((departs))

  126. ‘afternoon all.

Sylvia…all that crappy weather is coming back from the west….so your one day break wont last long ;-(
Its started spitting here this afternoon, and all goes to heck after midnight from the warnings i’m seeing posted. Yee haw…….dang, i hate winter!!
Thursday marks 1 yr since “the” ice storm. I sure hate to see a repeat or anything like it.

  127. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Howdy Patty
wondering where you were this morning – busy at work I am sure.
I remember your “ice” slide show and I hope you never get another one like that.

We are mid 50-‘s here again this week – No rain yet – boy we sure could use some.

    Sylvia,
Glad to hear it has “warmed” up for you a bit – wish you could send some of your rain my way

  128. Hiya KC….yep, I’m slaving away!*L*

I was without internet all weekend, geeze, dont know how you do it! haha
It was so “bad”, that i got out the limeaway and cleaned faucets! They sure are purdy now!

  129. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Patty,
I went thru the withdrawals when my mother board fried and was without a computer for 2 weeks. I cleaned just about everything in sight – in between my pouting –

Weekends and out of towners are a breeze – Hubby keeps me soooooo entertained, never think about turning the thing on. But while he is at work, well, here I am constantly going from one program to another.

  130. Last night was pretty cold, lots of ice on the streets, idk what tonight will be like, probably just as cold.

  131. KC…i guess its the just idea that “it is there”.
Hubby keeps you entertained..ha ha ha….you crack me up!

  132. max, i didnt realize that it got that cold over there. I just figured foggy all the time! Although, that probably comes from watching too many movies!

  133. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Max
Yah, what Patty said – Foggy, misty, wet, with music playing like in Jack the Ripper and the other movies. There is always music playing – LOL

  134. Patty & KC: That was smog in the movies, it’s not like that now thankfully. It was foggy last night too. In the winter fog and ice normally come together.

  135. Hi All,
    Max,
I didn’t know it got icy in London. Guess I’ve seen too many movies too!!

    KC,
50’s sounds downright balmy. I would be glad to send you some rain.

    Patty,
I’ve already seen the extended weather forecast…..more freezing weather to follow tomorrow’s thaw. UGH.

Oh well, I guess we all have to make the best of our weather.

  136. Sylvia…yep. but it sure is easier to take when that weather hits in Feb….you can at least see the end coming soon!

KC…Jack! *L* With the carriage wheels banging on the cobblestone!

    Max…..guess we all learned something!

  137. Patty: it doesn’t get very cold here though. We don’t get much snow, just rain.

  138. Adam Housley Says:

    I’M BAAAAAACK!!

Thanks everyone for hanging around. I took a week and a half off for much needed rest. I am back at it now and will be updating more consistently. I hope everyone had a great holiday and Max….I will hope you get 70 degree weather soon.

    Adam

  139. welcome back adam!! we look forward to seeing more of you!

  140. Hi Adam,

Hope you can now join in our conversations. We all enjoy the blog you have created for us.

  141. Hi Adam,

Hope you can now join in our conversations. We all enjoy the blog you have created for us.

  142. Adam…you were up early today! Saw you at 5 am, my time.

    ‘morning everyone.

  143. ๐Ÿ™‚ the weather man missed it!
Snow will stay to the S in KS.
Although we do have the 40 mph winds, but its tolerable when its not pushing something!

    Have a GOOD day everyone!

I’ve gotta make signs today, probably wont be able to stop back till after lunch.

  144. btw…there is a “feel good” story at 1:57 yesterday. Im not sure when it came through, you might have missed it.

  145. @Adam Housley

    Welcome Back! You’ve been missed.

    @All

    and g’morning all around!

  146. Adam Housley Says:

MAN…..I am beat. I got up around 1:30am and have been at the office since 2 something. We started with Fox and Friends live shots.

    Adam

  147. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Adam

Welcome back – have missed ya – sounds like you are about ready for another vacation.

Did see your reports on that terrible tragedy – It just breaks my heart. I cannot even fathom going to work like any other day, then all of a sudden you have lost your wife, children, and mother in a single instant. The pilot that ejected also has to live with this memory all of his life. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

Try to get some rest between your live shots.

  148. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Good morning everyone

Patty – enjoyed your feel good story – thanks

  149. @Adam Housley

Oh hell, you had to cover the Miramar crash story?

Sad, pretty much unavoidable (jet fighters are uncontrollable once they lose power or structure; it is not like trying to glide a conventional airplane), and *heartbreaking*.

My consolation to all involved. Yes, even the reporting team.

  150. Adam: I’d rather have snow at this time of year. Are you needing a new week of rest now?

  151. Adam Housley Says:

    Max-

Nah, I am fine. Just took a two and a half hour nap. I feel so much better now.
LDG- Yeah, that story seems like the engines just gave out and that makes the jet a flying missile.

    Adam

  152. I would not want to live anywhere near an airport. I feel so sorry for that family that was killed. The poor surviving husband must be devastated.

I also would not want to have to view that horrible scene. It is just so terrible. Yeah, I know, somebody has to do the job but I am such a softie that I couldn’t stand to see the carnage.

  153. Hi all.
Wow Adam you have more posts in 2 days than you’ve had in 2 mths! ha
I agree with the sentiments of the accident with the jet.
I hope you’ve found some rest.

Today was crappy at work. A guy got hurt. Long story, but he’ll be ok thankfully. He did have to go to a larger city hospital for plastic surgoen to do some work around his face. The worst part is, 2 guys were with him and they each gave the foreman a different story. This is not good. If we cant trust those we work with, *shaking head*…ya well, you get the idea. It was a stressful day. I truly believe one of these guys would lie to cover his own ass. He’s supposed to be the big shot ex-EMT and sheriff’s reserve officer, but that doesnt change a man’s character and his sucks.
Oh well, day is over, it could have been much worse. Tomorrow is another day.

  154. Adam: when needed a nap can be a wonderful thing. So sad that 3 people died, i was relieved when they were saying there were no deaths, but i guess the facts were wrong.

  155. Following link disabled for posting here:

    h ttp://michellemalkin.com/2008/12/09/this-is-what-patriotism-looks-like/

It is about the F/A-18D crash near Miramar… and a great man.

  156. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    LDG
Great article by michellemalkin. He is a great man. They had a small interview with him last evening after they found the remains of his second child and he did in fact say that no one was to blame for this tragic accident and that his family was now in heaven. He told the pilot that nothing that happened was his fault and that he should not take any blame for what happened. It was just heart breaking to hear him speak. What a true American – wish we had more people on this earth like him.

  157. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Good morning all
Chilly Willy here – Guess it froze last night, cause everything was solid ice this morning. Had to do the water on the windshields this morning before hubby left for work. Brrrrr

Well, there goes our Basil along with a couple of other herbs that cannot survive freezing temperatures. Most of the herbs make it, but the others don’t.

  158. KC…water on the windshield??…want me to send you a “ice scrapper”? *L*

    ‘morning all.

Yes, the man that lost his family. His talk was so touching, i was crying like a baby. What a strong person he is.

  159. Did anyone watch Oreilly lastnight?
His Patriot? The little girl and Santa.
oh my…..tears were rolling down our faces! There is something about service men/women arriving home that just touches us deeply. More of that should be on the news!! (instead of some of the garbage we see!)

  160. Hi All,

KC…Patty is right about the ice scrapper. Do they sell them in California?

    Patty,
Agree about the poor man who lost his family…it broke my heart…and he was so brave. I can’t image being that strong.

  161. Tried to post this in the Jet Crash thread over at Onthescene, but no clue if it will ever show up.
    ***
    Engines fail.

Then you have a many-multi-million-dollar lawn dart, and something pretty horrible happens.

FOXNews Video has a link with a FOX announcer who is a former Harrier pilot and tells just how, and how often, things like this occur.

John has it right, in the post at 9:19 am. They will know.

    @Adam Housley

Thank you for posting about this tragic accident.
    ***

    P.S. @ Adam Housley

so, any clue as to WHY my posts pretty much never clear moderation over there any more?

  162. Max – funny…couldn’t be me…I will NEVER dye my hair dark! (unless I’m on the run with Susan of course). LOL

Adam – was good to see you on FOX yesterday (looked sharp). Sad story and I saw the report today of the father/husband speaking. I heard he said he hopes the pilot will be okay and hopes he will continue to fly. WOW! That’s touching!

  163. LDG…its Bush’s fault that you can’t post over there :-0

  164. Max and FL…they say everyone has a “double”, I’ve always wondered where the saying came from, or if is even semi-true.

  165. Max and FL…they say everyone has a “double”, I’ve always wondered where the saying came from, or if is even semi-true.

  166. Patty – I think I’m seeing two of you. LMBO! You are funny!

  167. Patty & Max
I remember when I started a new High School. I had been there for probably a month when one morning I was sitting with other friends and this girl comes and sits down right next to me and says “so, tell me everything they said about me last night”. I didn’t have a clue what she was talking about. We all looked at the girl and she looked at me for a second and turned red and said “OMG, I thought you were >>>” . We all bust out laughing.

  168. *LMAO* ahhh it was my evil twin!

  169. FL…whoa, that could cause problems! *L* I”ll bet she was really embarrassed!

We went to school with about 3 different sets of identical twins. 2 sets female and 1 set male. the bs they couldn’t pull off with the teachers!! The guys, I still have a hard time telling them apart all these years later.

  170. Sunshine: lol, I know. But she used to be blond, and that was when she reminded me of you.
What a great story, did you ever find out who the girl was?

  171. Good Morning All

About this twin thing……my husband would probably say one of me is enough….especially with all the computer problems I seem to have!!!!! If it weren’t for him I probably would have given up on computers long ago. I can’t troubleshoot and things seem to happen that are weird.

  172. Hi All!
I haven’t gotten on here in a bit and last night my mom asked me to post something for her. ๐Ÿ™‚ She is in Illinois right now and said everyone seems to be happy there… I am assuming it has to to do with the fact that the Governor is in trouble. I did read a blog today that showed his approval rating is at 4%…ouch!
Anyway, I hope all is well… it’s rainy and dreary here…

Adam ~ I did get to see some of your coverage on the plane crash. Very heartbreaking!

  173. Hiya Becky.

    ‘morning all.

I’m curious. The whole Illinois thing, seems like a huge mafia movie to me. Maybe I just watch too much tv. I’ve read a few of the na-sayers that insist the Gov. was set up. Pissed off the wrong people and the sit in strike at the factory pushed the wrong people over the edge.
Do you think there is anything to that?
I hate politics, i think it is all crooked. I do believe if you weren’t a cheat and lier going in, you will be coming out. I’ve even told our commissioners here that. (the ones that sign our paychecks).
I was just curious what you all think. Not for any particular reason, ‘cept curiosity.
I think the Gov., his wife, and cohorts are dirtier than a diaper, but that’s me. I just question the timing and, how can anyone be so stupid when they knew they were under surveillance?

  174. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Adam,

Just caught your live report from Malibu – boy, you really do get around don’t you??? I personally don’t think “anyone” can stop the chasing and picture taking of the stars. Wish they could for safety sake, but me thinks there is toooo much money to be made by selling pictures of the stars to the media, etc.

  175. Patty,

Dirty politics????? I never suspected that!!!!!!!

Actually, there are so few clean politicians that you could probably count them on 1 hand. I think Obama is either deaf, blind, stupid, or a lying crook…..take your pick. He has been surrounded by dirty politicians his entire career so he has to know what’s going on. Unless he was absent the days the dirty tricks went down.

BTW…..the governor of Illinois is as arrogant as OJ…..and just as dumb.

  176. KC - Fresno, Ca. Says:

    Good morning all

Patty & Slyvia – yes, we do have ice scrapers in California, but the pitcher of water is way faster than scrape, scrape, scrape. lol We don’t have the freezing like you do, we usually are only at 31 degrees, so it is not a hard ice like you get. I suspose when you guys are at 12 degrees, pouring water from a pitcher would be impossible, as it would probably form icicles as you are pouring and then the icicles would break your windshield. I am getting a visual as I type. (grinning)

Headed to my tai chi class and the grocery store so will be back later.

  177. Adam must be doing live with the paparazzi?
    Are they chasing him? *L*

until people stop paying/buying, you wont stop the paparazzi.
Make it illegal, everything else is! argh

  178. KC…thats pretty much the visual i had yesterday with you and the pitcher!!! *LOL*
I guess i never took into account that your freezing is different than ours!
as we speak, its 25 degrees, and that is at 11 am with full sun!
have i mentioned how much i hate winter?

  179. Patty,
    It’s 30 here…no sun…have I mentioned how much I hate winter also???

  180. Hi Patty! 25 degrees with the sun out and it’s almost noon… yep, I would not survive! lol
Sylvia ~ I agree the governor of Illinois is just as arrogant and dumb as OJ.

  181. LDG…Adam…anyone….would be interested to know your thoughts on the Nat’l Bio-Agro Defense Lab.
Manhattan KS seems to be the choice.
Im not happy. Not just the “not in my back yard” knee jerk reaction, but because they want to put all the diseases with unkown cures in the middle of beef/swine country. Why do I see a serious problem waiting to happen?
That and this is “hunter/game” country. Not so sure I will ever eat anthing that didnt come off my own property after this is built.
Thank God for knowing how to butcher my own meat!

FYI..There is a link at the bottom of the following page if you want more reading. There is lots of it here if interested!
    h ttp://www.dhs.gov/xnews/releases/pr_1228505447202.shtm link is disabled.

btw..Manhattan KS is 60 miles from me and smack dab in the “middle” of the USA

  182. Patty,
Should we all give up meat?…….that sounds scary.

If I had to kill it I couldn’t eat it. I’m way too squemish.
    Guess I wouldn’t survive on a farm.

  183. Sylvia….I just dont know. It is scary. But maybe false fear? I dont trust “gov’t”, period!
I was small town girl made farmer. I said I couldnt eat it either if i “knew’ the critter. But, times change. Nature’s way in the food cycle.

  184. Max…didnt somewhere in the UK have a Bio-Lab type accident about a year ago? Something that was found to be with the construction of the building is how it leaked the disease?
Or was that all a BS story? You remember?

  185. @Patty

My thoughts? How about “KSU did a sales job on the Feds” for an answer?

In all seriousness, they already have an Enhanced Bio-Safety 3 level facility there, so there has been present an accident potential for a long time. Here’s a list of Biosafety Levels and high level labs in place/under construction world wide:

The idea that Plum Island needs to be replaced is a good one, but the choice of an inland location for the replacement is, in my opinion, not clearly the best choice. To answer your comment about trust: It isn’t just the Federal Government you are being asked to trust, it is also KSU.

    Hope that helps.

sent you an email– congrats! Big time!

now when you get your sweet ass in trouble in the USA for hanging out in a AMERICAN University, you know who to call….

The Universities in Europe are soooo much better than in these polluted Universities—- where party, being attractive, and stupid make the grades!

Congrats– but I am actually going to pray for you!

    xxxxx

  200. And as for Obama—
Black/white guy– made a few friends who blemished him–

Did not anyone of you EVER become involved in a cause, given his age, 47, where radical thoughts were still around? Everyone is so good to jump on the band wagon about mistakes… but are all of your so detached from error?

Give him a break! He might just make a half ass decent President since he knows he is way under the microscope!

I was looking at my emails as for the jokes… I was sadly disappointed to see we are all prejudiced! I spent a half hour deleting these and not reading them…

We get a hoot on Hillary looking like Bill or Obama’s new jokes with some black guy with a diamond in his front tooth..

Obama, at least went to school, to get where he is at today…. and I know he loves his family…

So in my perception– Bible— don’t look at the speck in your neighbor’s eye… look at the log in your eye!

    Have a great Christmas!!!

As this is my last blog entry–

I loved and enjoyed all of you but I will not be blogging anymore!

    Vaya con Dios~~~~~~~~~~

    Go with God!

    Susan

  201. ‘morning everyone.

    WTH just happened?
    I’m a little confused.
I guess I’ve been too busy to stay current.

I was going to say I somehow feel “richer” today. Im very thankful that the “bail-out/loan” didnt pass. Im thankful for the representatives that didnt see this as the right thing to do. I do not think that gov’t needs to be running private businesses. But what do I know, Im just a little guy caught up in the mess with everyone else.

Max, I’ll go check that link after bit.

  202. Is susan gone forever :O? im so confused?

  203. Morning all!
Patty and Avi ~ I am confused too!

  204. Didn’t understand Susan’s comment either.

I think critical comments about Obama and his “former” cronies have nothing to do with race…it has to do with dirty politics.

As for the bailout….unless the unions are willing to compromise and the companies restructure no tax payer money should be loaned/given…whatever you want to call the help. The government can’t keep bailing out and printing money.

  205. If anyone knows anything about Susan…. Max?? let us know…cuz that message was offly =s

  206. Avi ~ if I hear of anything I will let you know…

  207. Becky,

she emailed me …. shes done ..

  208. I asked on facebook:
I am starting school in January– the blog was fun but I get more done when not on the computer and my life at this moment is very demanding so no time for chit and chat.. LOL

  209. Avi, Congratulations! Now, you can relax for the next few months…..

  210. Susan, just in case you stop by….. I will miss you.

  211. Patty, I think the IL Gov has been under some type of investigation a couple years….and read a month or so ago that Rezko was talking to the FBI and implicating the Gov. in more corruption. I think they moved forward with the arrest due to his recent shenanagins with the senate seat, a bill on his desk, and the pressure on the newspaper.

The investigation is not over. I am sure there will be more. Is he corrupt? I think so. More corrupt than most, but someone summed it up yesterday…… he thinks he did no wrong as he was doing just as all the politicians in the IL / Chicago area!

  212. K2…i hadnt thought of the stuff Rezko was squeaking. Guess i forgot to add him to the picture.

  213. Hi K2

In Chicago 2 wrongs make a right. Cook county is being referred to as Crook county.

  214. Hi Patty,

Rezko is supposedly singing. Wonder who else will go down.

  215. Hi Sylvia. Crook county sure seems appropriate. Also, did not realize the Gov. remained in his Chicago residence and did not move to the governors home in the state capitol. Guess he didn’t want to be too far away from the crook’s county!

  216. Its like watching the Sopranos. I never did, just saw previews. We dont get HBO.

Should stay interesting to say the least.

  217. Patty,
The Sopranos were always bumping off people….I hope the Chicago crooks don’t own guns!!!!

  218. Sylvia, makes you wonder how many are mia!

  219. Morning all. I hope you all have a good weekend. Stay warm and safe!

    Wow, its windy!
Those that aren’t in the south……..are you ready for the arctic blast tomorrow?? argh!
Adam made a comment at facebook that it was “socal cold”, that cracks me up!

This should give KC a shiver when she returns>>>

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 21 by 5pm. Breezy, with a south wind 20 to 25 mph becoming northwest. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
Sunday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values between -6 and 2. Blustery, with a north wind between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 15. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 5.

  220. Patty,

It was 16 this morning. Suppose to reach 40’s later today, 50’s on Sunday, and then cold again. I just hope the snow and ice stay away.

Winter begins on the 21st and I’m ready for spring. It seems like it’s already been winter. Anyone buying into the global warming theory? It’s not happening in Ohio.

  221. The only place there is warming…..is in front of our corn stove, and i dont think there is enough room for “global”! *L*

  222. Here’s a link for supplying free food to animal shelters just by clicking!!

  224. Ah now comes the next issue:

Dorms!!!!!!!! they all seem good lol

  225. Avi..coed ๐Ÿ™‚

  226. Patty,

Don’t give him any ideas!!! Naughty naughty!!!!! LOL

  227. *looking around innocently*
    wasn’t me! hehehe

  228. Yeah…..it was your evil twin.

  229. Aren’t most dorms now Co-Ed anyways?

  230. HAHA… they are all co-ed

    thats not the question

its just the north side or south side

both have pros-cons so its a difficult choice…..

    bleee

south side is more populated north is less
but south is more drunk but you dont study in ur dorm rather u do all your work in the library. So i dunno … going to see were other Early Decision people are going then see … a dorm they way i see it is a place were you pretty much sleep more or less.. lol

  231. The north one sounds better. You can always go to the south one when you want to party.

  232. Avi,
A compatable roommate is most important….you don’t want one who parties in the room while you try to sleep. If you are a serious student rather than a party person get a dorm on the quiet side and a roommate who is the same way. I assume you have to share a room…..unless that college has private rooms.

  233. Max,

yah but you got to have a pass to get in

    Sylvia,

I’m a bit of both like i want to have fun and also study (just the past 4 years been difficult since i have been doing 2 high schools at the same time)

but I like my peace but esp i dont wanted ppl trashed in my dorm.

My dad told me i should go were all the “action” is … i was :O when he suggested that.

Though on the South is were all the Frats are. I mean I dont think the south is going to bad on weekdays—

I’m a serious student who needs quiet when i need to study and work as i can study with noise and distractions. Though there is the library; however, ill also be doing some studying in my dorm.

  234. Make a friend who lives in the south one and be their guest?

  235. Avi,

My daughter had 3 roommates her first year at Ohio State. She had no peace and quiet in her room…..it was constant chaos. Sometimes her roommates even had their boyfriends stay over night so she then had no privacy. She hated it so much she transfered back home to the local college. She likes to party but not 24/7.
If your college has an honors dorm maybe you should consider that. You can still meet “party” people through activies such as frats or Hillel. It is VERY important to get a roommate who is serious about studying and not just partying.

  236. Our daughter also had a room mate like Sylvia describes.
Sis went and rented a very small house and gave up on the idea of having roommates that weren’t there to go to school.

  237. ‘morning everyone.
    the cold is arriving! ewwww
    dark and reary day here.
maybe a good day for the xbox!

  238. reary??? geeze
    how about *dreary

  239. I almost forgot the mention this here…

The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lightingยฎ, held annually the second Sunday in December, this year December 14, unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, creating a virtual wave of light, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor the memories of children in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries.
